Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

64 bed in-patient ward

Developed in collaboration with Catfoss Group Manufacturing, the new 64-bed RSH Ward is set to be completed in late 2025, providing a state-of-the-art inpatient facility that prioritizes accessibility, patient well-being, and operational efficiency.

Designed to accommodate a diverse patient group, including those with dementia, visual impairments, and mental health needs, the ward incorporates a carefully curated colour palette to enhance wayfinding and accessibility. Four private rooms are specially designed for mental health patients, ensuring a safe and calming environment.

Key design features include:

  • Large windows to maximize natural light, promoting patient recovery and staff well-being.

  • A three-section layout, each with a dedicated nurse base, enhancing patient observation and clinical efficiency.

  • Seamless integration with the adjacent HTP build, maintaining architectural cohesion across the hospital estate.

With planning approved, this project marks a significant step forward in patient care, creating a modern, healing-focused environment that balances functionality, safety, and comfort.
